Facial Recognition

If you’d rather not have your face recognized by Facebook, you can disable that feature...

If you’ve uploaded a picture to Facebook lately, you may have noticed the creepy new feature that seems to already know the names of the people in the shot. Facebook’s new facial recognition feature is kind of amazing – unless of course you’d rather NOT be recognized in a picture you haven’t even seen yet. It will identify you in your friends’ pictures if you’re in one – and look anything like yourself.

There is a way to disable facial recognition on Facebook. Go to your Privacy Settings and click on Customize Settings. Scroll down to the section that’s called “Things other’s share.” There you’ll find “Suggest photos of me to friends.” That’s the box you want to un-check if you’d rather not be recognized.
