It’s the goji berry. Scientists set out to figure out why one area in northern China had 16 times more centenarians than the rest of the country. It turns out the goji berry is plentiful there and the people munch on them every day. Goji bberries have got 500% more vitamin C per ounce than oranges. These tangy little orange-red berries also release a natural human growth hormone which boosts energy and protects cells from age-related damage.

Dried goji berries are starting to crop up in a lot of U.S. health food stores – but in China they are also eaten raw or used to make tea, juice and wine.
