Some of the stuff we only use once could really help someone else out...
If last year’s Halloween costume won’t do for your kid – lots of less fortunate kids would LOVE it. Go to HalloweenHelpers.com or keep your eye out for local charity drives and drop boxes coming soon. Here are a few more good ideas:
• Your wedding gown, mother-of-the-bride dress or flower girl dress can help a cancer patient – and it’s tax deductible. Go to BridesAgainstBreastCancer.org.
• That bridesmaid’s dress could help a teenage girl attend her prom. Go to DonateMyDress.org.
• Your recent graduate’s gown can take some pressure off a less fortunate student. Check with the school about a donation program or offer it up for free online.
And how about those stuffed animals? Those are often sentimental, hard to throw out and impossible to sell. We found a home for them too. AnimalsForEmergencies.org accepts those, as well as other toys, books and blankets, for distribution to organizations and homeless shelters that help kids in times of crisis. It’s a win-win.
