Could I be getting sick?
Most of us get that feeling, a tickle, a sneeze or something’s just off. What we do on day-one can make all the difference. Here’s what you need to do – STAT:
• Start drinking water or juice as soon as you feel symptoms. Staying hydrated will lessen the inevitable stuffy nose and sore throat.
• Gargling with salt water reduces inflammation, clears irritants from the back of the throat and flushes out bacteria and viruses.
• Use some saline nasal spray and take a hot shower to keep nasal passages clear before you get clobbered.
• Take one or two teaspoons of honey, straight from the jar. It coats the throat and helps to block the growth of bacteria.
Wrap up day one of your cold with a protein-packed dinner - lean meat, fish or beans, with some whole grains and vegetables on the side. Chicken soup is another great option – it really does help. Take another hot shower, and some medicine if you need it – and hit the sack.
