Chilly mornings are prime-time for a nice bowl of hot oatmeal...
If you’ve got a little left over – go ahead and smear that on your face. Oatmeal absorbs oil and bacteria from the skin and exfoliates dead skins cells. Leave it on there for 15 minutes, then rinse. Here are some other alternate uses for oatmeal:
• Oatmeal bath: Grind some oatmeal into a fine powder and fill some pantyhose with it. Tie that around your faucet and fill the tub. Give that wet oatmeal bulb a squeeze once in a while for a super-soothing soak.
• No time to wash your hair? Oatmeal to the rescue! It makes a great dry shampoo. Grind it into a powder and mix with an equal amount of baking soda. Rub that into your hair and let it absorb the dirt and oil for a minute, then brush it out.
• If you’re out of breadcrumbs – oatmeal is a great substitute. It’s also good for thickening up soups or runny dips or stews.
• Absorb odors with oatmeal. Leave an open container in the bathroom, fridge or any other smelly spot.
• Play with your oatmeal. Mix 2 parts oatmeal with 1 part flour and 1 part water. You can even add food coloring if you like. It makes a great Play-Doh substitute and can even be painted once it dries.
