There’s a good reason Batman and Cinderella costumes are popular for Halloween...
Most of us are not afraid of offending superheroes and princesses. Choosing a costume in a politically correct environment can be tricky – here are some scenarios that could lack some taste...
• Nazis and terrorists may be scary – but it didn’t go over too well for Prince Harry and probably won’t for you.
• Controversial women like Lady Gaga or Snooki might be tempting – but tramping it up at a kids’ party or around the neighborhood is a turnoff - especially if it's your mom!
• Believe it or not – some people think the suicide bomber is a really funny costume. It’s not.
• If your teen or tween wants to dress as a witch – double check the costume – there’s probably a LOT less of it than you'd like.
• That single sparkly glove is easy and affordable - but at the moment it's associated more with a troubled, tragic train wreck than the King of Pop.
• The sexy kitty can be cute – at the ADULT party!
• Religious figures may strike you as original – but will probably strike others as really inappropriate.
• You might think that politician is scary – but there’s a good chance about half of your neighbors don’t.
• It doesn’t get much easier than the old standby hobo costume – but in this economy you might want to scare up something else.
