Did you weigh yourself this morning?
If you’re trying to lose weight, studies show weighing yourself once a day is the best approach. In order to get it right, you’ll want to be consistent. Here are some basics for using your bathroom scale:
• Calibrate your scale. Put a 5 pound dumbbell or bag of sugar on there to measure accuracy.
• Make sure your scale is on a level floor. Having a scale on a carpet or rug can add 10% to the reading.
• Weigh yourself at the same time every day, preferably second thing in the morning – after you’ve used the bathroom.
• Get naked. Clothes and accessories can add as much as 5 pounds.
• Don’t weigh yourself after working out. You lose water weight from sweating – and it WILL be back as soon as you’re rehydrated.
