You’ll probably want to switch yours out after you hear about this recent study. It found that the sponge in your kitchen sink could be hanging onto more germs than your toilet bowl. It gets even worse. 7% of the sponges and dishrags they tested were positive for MRSA – the flesh-eating bacteria.
If you’re not already in the habit of throwing your sponge in the dishwasher every time you run it – you should be. It really does help to sanitize things. Microwaving your damp sponge daily is another good germ-killing option.
