Are you a meeting addict? Hopefully not...
Meeting addicts are more comfortable talking about work than actually doing it. They are a huge drain on time and resources for everyone else in the office. CareerBuilder.com has a few more characters you’re bound to meet in a meeting:
• The meek moderator has trouble exerting any authority. They don’t start until everyone is there, let the most vocal dominate the meeting, then have trouble wrapping it up.
• The idea killer is the perpetual pessimist who usually has no real ideas of his or her own.
• The technology tinkerer spends most of the meeting frantically fiddling with malfunctioning audio or video euqipment - and coulp probably use your help.
• The smartphone fiend has the natural ability to be distracted and distracting – all at the same time.
• The class clown is always good for a one-liner or corny quip – regardless of mood or topic.
If you have to deal with one or more of these characters on a regular basis – you’re not alone. If you ARE one of these characters, by all means, call a meeting with yourself and work on that.
