If you’re tempted to tell a little lie to protect your partner’s feelings – don’t...

Honesty is probably the most important factor in a successful relationship...

It’s no surprise that a big lie could lead to disaster – but even the little ones add up. According to Joel Block, author of “Naked Intimacy,” small, seemingly harmless lies over the course of a lifetime can erode a relationship. So what qualifies as a little lie? Maybe you bought something you didn’t need - then lied to your partner about the cost. Or, your partner noticed your lingering glance at someone, and you swore up and down you didn’t find them attractive.

Dr. Block says we may think these little lies are harmless, and that they actually protect our partner’s feelings a bit. The truth is, they are harder to detect than the “big” lies, and will chip away at trust over the years and can ultimately tear couples apart.
