There is a big difference between introverts and shy people...

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

To determine that, Susan Cain, author of “Quite, The Power of Introverts,” has the general definitions. Introverts prefer quiet, minimally stimulating environments. Extroverts need higher levels of stimulation to feel their best. That stimulation can range from the basics like lights and sound to social and physical stimulation. If you prefer a quite glass of wine with a friend, you’re probably an introvert. If you love a wild party full of strangers, you’re an extrovert.

Susan also points out, if you’re the shy type – you’re not necessarily an introvert. There is actually a big difference. Shyness is the fear of negative judgment, while introversion is simply the preference for less stimulation. Shyness is uncomfortable; introversion is not.

Some famous introverts are: Gandhi, Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks and Johnny Carson.

Some famous extroverts: Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, President Obama and Oprah.
