If your kid got a Let’s Rock Elmo this Christmas – here's a warning...

Do you have a Let’s Rock Elmo in the house?

A new study from the University of California tested that toy and says it’s too loud. It’s one of the toys on a list that could damage a child’s hearing if held close to the ear. Here are a few more toys you might want to turn down:

• Road Rippers Lightning Rod cars were the loudest, at 108 decibels.

• The I am T-Pain microphone hit 101 decibels.

• Marvel’s Super Shield Captain America, Whac-A-Mole and Tonka’s Might Motorized Firetruck made the list too.

The authors of the study say there’s no reason to toss these toys if you have them. Toys with noise are generally safe as long as they’re used properly. Avoid prolonged use and discourage your child from holding anything that makes noise right up to their ear – or yours.
