If you’d like to stop that bout of hiccups, yawning or sneezing – here are some cures...

How would you like to stop that growling stomach during a quiet meeting, or those hiccups in the movie theater?

Here are a few tricks to try on those embarrassing outbursts:

• Growling Stomach: Pinch your acupressure hunger point. That’s the cartilage on your ear next to your ear canal. Hold the pinch for a full minute. It temporarily stops stomach muscles from contracting.

• Yawning: Press the soft area between your pinky and ring finger knuckles. That point triggers adrenaline.

• Hiccups: Find some sugar – and sprinkle some onto the back of your tongue. Then, stick out your tongue as far as you can while taking a few deep breaths.

• Sneezing: Press your index finger firmly against the space above your upper lip. Hold it until the urge to sneeze passes. If that doesn’t work, take a deep breath and count backward from 10 to 1.
