Is your desk a mess? There’s an upside to that.

If you need a really good idea or some creative thinking at work, find someone with a really messy desk. 

A recent study in Psychological Science says the people behind those messy desks are likely to have some real solutions under that clutter. Kathleen Vohs, author of the study, says disorderly environments seem to inspire breaking free of tradition, which can produce fresh insights. The workers with the tidy desk tend to be conventional and prone to playing it safe. It takes them longer to think out of the box and generate interesting ideas.
