The next time someone at work suggests a brainstorming session, offer an alternative - brainwriting.
Leah Thompson, author of “Creative Conspiracy,” says brainstorming sessions often result in idea and conversation hogging by just a few people. She says brainwriting is the way to go. Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Write one sentence each, offering an idea or solution, on an index card.
Step 2: Consider the idea, not the source. Submit the cards anonymously and display them for the whole team to consider.
Step 3: Put it to a blind vote. Have each team member mark the best ideas with a Post-it note and the best ones will soon reveal themselves.
