Green tea is really good for us - but good luck finding the real thing.
Even if you’re downing several cups a day for the benefits, chances are you’re still getting a lot less than you think. What you want is the group of antioxidants known as EGCG found in green tea. However, because the FDA doesn’t test tea or tea products for this, it’s impossible to know how much is in there.
Loose green tea is your best bet. Tea bags tested contained less of the desired antioxidants, especially if they were decaffeinated. Bottled green tea is the worst choice for good health. Most of them contain unhealthy sugars and much less EGCG than was listed on the label.
