If that food is labelled with “fortified” or “enriched,” you might want to put it back...


The words “fortified” and “enriched” may sound positive and healthy - but that’s not always the case.

We see those terms a lot on products such as flour, pasta, crackers, bread and breakfast cereal and there’s a reason for it. Manufactures often need to supplement their products because the original food has been stripped of it’s natural blend of nutrients. That’s where the fortification and enriching enter the picture. 

Adding nutrients artificially can be risky business. Ideally, we want to get the good stuff the natural way and nutritional experts agree that whole foods which have not been tampered with are the way to go.
