Congratulations, you got the job. Now the interview really begins. Rookie mistakes to avoid,..

Starting a new job can be exciting and even a little scary...
It’s natural for some people to try to hit the ground running and make some allies right out of the gate - just don’t get too friendly. Here are some rookie mistakes to avoid for the first few weeks:

* Talking too much. Like it or not, verbal gaffes will stick with you and you’ll need to get a lay of the land and your coworkers before you really know what you’re talking about.

* Challenging authority. Everyone from the front desk to the executive office values their turf. Go with the flow until they’re comfortable with you.

* Being needy. Try to avoid asking for supplies you don’t absolutely need. If it’s a must, phrase it in the form of a request as opposed to “I need.”

* Guilt by association. Beware of complainers. They’re often the most sociable and will set their sights on new blood.

Arriving early and leaving a little late is a really good idea for the first few weeks. A lot of big shots work long hours and they’ll notice you more apart from the herd.
