Are you drinking enough water? If not, these statistics will make you thirsty...

You know it’s important to drink enough water - but do you know why?

Here is what can happen to your body, head to toe, if you don’t:

• Your brain: When you’re dehydrated, you’re slowing the flow of oxygen to your brain. That can result in shrinkage of your neurons which will leave you distracted and not thinking clearly.

• Your skin and hair: They both need water to retain moisture, shine and elasticity.

• Your mouth: Lack of water leads to dry mouth, bad breath and cavities.

• Your heart: Dehydration lowers blood volume forcing your heart to work harder for adequate flow. It can even make exercise or climbing stairs more difficult.

• Your kidneys: They need that water to filter out toxins and lack of water can lead to urinary tract infections and kidney stones.

• Your toes: Not drinking enough water can trigger muscle cramping in the limbs and toes.
