Guess who’s coming back to town? Birds. How to welcome them home, in a moment...

March marks the beginning of the migration season for birds...

If you’d like them to brighten up your spring there are a few things you can do to encourage them to build their home near yours. They’ll be looking for nesting material and you’ve got what they need. Pet hair, yarn, cotton and grass clippings will come in handy for several varieties of birds. Don’t use dryer lint because that will fall apart in the rain. Stuff your stuff in a toilet paper tube and hang it from a favorite tree and they will find it. Birds that build nests in bushes or hedges will appreciate a small pile of twigs and leaves nearby to build with.

You can also lure them in with a block of suet bird feed. Almost all birds like it and you can hang that edible welcome mat anywhere, no feeder required.
