Why do so many people struggle with remembering names?

Do you have a hard time remembering names? A lot of people do...

Cynthia Green, author of “Total Memory Workout,” says names can be especially hard to remember for a couple of reasons. We usually hear that name once, in a flash, while we’re processing a lot of different information. Do I need to know this person? Is it someone I want to get to know? We’re also absorbing how they look, sound and act – and we’re usually surrounded by distractions such as noise or activity in the immediate vicinity.

Dr. Green says repeating the name is the most effective technique to making it stick. It’s nice to meet you Lindsay. Where are you from John? Another good trick is to associate that name with a celebrity. You’ve just met Lindsay Lohan and John F. Kennedy.
