If you’ve got a favorite pair of leather boots – baby them a bit...

It's boot season!

Real leather boots are expensive – and there are a few relatively easy things you can do to make them last a lot longer:

• Most leather boots have a thinner sole than synthetic boots and you can get a LOT more mileage out of them by adding a rubber sole to the bottom. It prevents wear on the leather sole and gives you some better traction too. Shoe repair stores can do this for you.

• Invest in some leather conditioner for a few dollars. It really helps prevent the leather from drying out while they sit inside dry, heated environments.

• Shoe or boot trees are worth the trouble. They help hold the shape of your boot with keeps them looking bootiful for much longer.
