Sleep On It

Should you sleep on that decision? Yes! Or have a beer...

Sleeping on it is really good advice. We often get the urge to make a big decision if we’re unhappy or stressed. That’s when smart people are most likely to make bad choices. David Welch, author of “Decisions, Decisions” says, if you don’t have time to sleep on it – take at least a half hour. Go for a walk, meditate or even have a beer. The idea is to give your unconscious mind a chance to have its say. We’re much more likely to make a better decision when we remove ourselves from the situation, focus on something else – and then revisit it.
