Cafe Crime

There’s a new wave of crime at local cafes..

Surfs up – at most cafes. Now that Wi-Fi is practically everywhere, more and more people are sipping and surfing on their gadgets. It’s one stop shopping for thieves. Laptops, tablets and smartphones are disappearing in cafes coast to coast. Logging on in public makes other theft easier too. While we’re networking – crooks are watching our pocket-books, coats and any other goodies to-go.

Tech theft in cafes is getting so common in New York City that the police have actually asked Starbucks managers to post warning signs in some locations. It’s easy to let your guard down in a friendly, comfortable environment – keep in mind these thieves just look like any other customer.
