Holding a Grudge

If you’ve been wronged – holding a grudge just makes things worse...

Judy Kurianski, author of “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to a Healthy Relationship,” says holding a grudge is like drinking poison yourself and hoping it makes the other person sick. Resentment can do some real damage, emotionally and physically. Not only does it interfere with present pleasures and keep you focused on pains of the past – it could destroy a salvageable relationship. The physical pain could include a tight chest, tense muscles, upset stomach, headaches and sleep deprivation.

Letting go of a grudge isn’t always easy – but it’s worth the effort to literally get it off your chest. Speak up. Let the other person know what’s bothering you and try to offer a solution. If an apology is in order, you’ll probably get one and feel a lot better.
