Personal Poetry Slam

When is the last time you read a poem – out loud?

Pick a poem – any poem – and read it out loud. You’re almost guaranteed to feel calmer after the fact. A slow, even cadence will be the most effective. When we recite poetry aloud, it deepens our breathing and slows the heart rate.

If you can commit the poem to memory, you’ll increase the benefits. You’ll always remember it and challenging your memory skills is good for the brain and can be really rewarding.
