Burn Treatment

If you happen to burn yourself – don’t use ice!

The next time you or your child suffers a minor burn – skip the ice AND the butter. The first step is to stop the heat. Get the burn under cool running water as soon as possible. Putting ice on there can actually make things worse by causing cold damage to the skin. Keep the cold water treatment going for at least 20 minutes or apply a cold-water soaked washcloth.

To treat the burn – aloe is best. You should have a bottle of 100% aloe in the home. Some products say they’re aloe but only contain 10% - so check the label or buy an aloe plant.
