Chocolate is good for us – but which is better – dark or white?
We’ll find out, in a minute…Payoff:If you’re eating chocolate for its health benefits – pick dark over white chocolate. Researchers put the favorites to the test and dark chocolate won hands down in the brain boosting department. Two groups of volunteers ate the different types of chocolate - then were given vision and cognitive tests. The dark chocolate group could actually see 17% better in difficult conditions – for up to 2 ½ hours! The dark chocolate memory and reaction times were sharper too.
This study helped the researchers rule out the sugar buzz as being the reason for improved performance on chocolate. They say it’s the cocoa flavonols that increase our blood and oxygen flow – and dark chocolate has got more of that.
