That online dating profile picture can make a big difference...
Which online dating profile pictures get noticed? OK Cupid cataloged over 7,000 photos and analyzed them – and some of the results were surprising:
• For women – smiling or flirting while looking AT the camera was the best. The single WORST picture a woman can take is a flirtatious expression, looking AWAY from the camera. The flirting part was okay – but you’ll need to be looking at the person you’re trying to connect with.
• Men’s photos are most effective when they look AWAY from the camera and DON’T smile. FLIRTING away from the camera doesn’t work here either.
• The cheesy pose known as the MySpace angle is the picture taken of yourself by holding your camera above your head and trying to look sexy. You might think that’s lame, but OK Cupid says it’s still the most clicked pic of women by men.
• And men – keep your shirts ON if you’re over 30. The male “ab shot” actually works for really buff guys 19 to 30. Guys older than that get more attention dressed in a simple collared shirt.
