Mmmm sugar – most of us love it – but even those of us who don’t have a sweet tooth are probably getting too much of it. There is a simple effective way to lower our bad sugar intake. First of all, forget the healthy claims on the front of a package. Products with phrases like “low-fat” and “good source of whole grains” are often a really good source of sugar too. Flip the package over. If you see sugar listed in the first 5 ingredients – put it back. That goes for any ingredient ending in “-ose” too. That’s code for sugar.
