What’s your prescription of wine? The health benefits of different regions...

We keep hearing that drinking wine is good for us - and some wines are healthier than others...

Dan Amatuzzi, wine director at Eataly wine shop in New York City, has some health benefits by region. He says the Bordeaux, Cabernet and Merlot wines of northern Italy are full bodied, velvety and full of antioxidants. The Italian region of Umbria has a super-grape called Sagrantino with gives us the highest levels of polyphenols. Those help to relax blood vessels and promote circulation. For a delicious dose of resveratrol, you’ll need to head farther south in Italy to Sicily and Sardinia where the Grenache grape grows.
