Is your dog an American?

What nationality is your dog?

There’s are only a few true American breeds. Those are Alaskan breeds which include Inuit sled dogs, the Eskimo dog and the Greenland dog. DNA analysis shows they’ve got actual American roots. Although it’s believed the original dogs hail from Asia and Africa, most U.S. dogs have European ancestors. Those breeds include Golden retrievers, poodles, bulldogs, rottweilers, boxers and herding-type dogs such as collies, greyhounds, shepherds and the Saint Bernard. Scent hounds such as terriers, spaniels and retrievers also started across the pond. The Chihuahua and the Mexican hairless dog had a shorter trip from just over the border in Mexico.
