Is your house lightning proof? How it could strike you out...

It’s lightning season and your home could be at risk...

It doesn’t take a direct strike to do some significant damage. Even a nearby strike can kill all the delicate, expensive electronic gear in your house. When lightning hits the ground, it travels across to the nearest structure and you’ll need some protection. It’s a good idea to have a surge protector installed, which is a device designed to cut off power surges before they come into your house. For added protection, good old lightning rods are very effective. Those need to be installed on the roof with a grounded cable to channel energy away from the home.
