Uh-oh, your résumé is longer than a page. What to cut...


If you’ve had an illustrious career, or tend to be a job-hopper, chances are it’s hard to fit your professional life all on one page - but something has got to go...

Corporate recruiter Dennis Tupper has a few jobs you can leave OFF your résumé. Skip the details on any positions in industries that aren’t related to what you’re doing now. It’s okay to list the industry and years you were in it - but that’s all you’ll need.

The same rule applies jobs you’ve had in your current industry which don’t reflect your current level. Any jobs you’ve held for only a few months can be eliminated. Just be prepared to discuss any gaps if they come up in the interview.
