According to eye doctor Robert Maiolo, there is a stark personality contrast between nearsighted and farsighted people. He says nearsighted people are more likely to be analytical and detail oriented. Farsighted folks tend to be social types and more athletically inclined.

Dr. Maiolo has also seen some vision-related career trends. Teachers, lawyers and doctors are usually nearsighted, while firefighters, police officers and members of the military are more often farsighted.
