Good news! We’re in a recession...
According to researchers at The University of Washington School of Public Health, economic downturns help us live longer. They say mortality rates tend to decline rather than increase during a recession. With less people commuting to work and driving in general, traffic fatalities go down. Drinking, smoking and overeating are expensive – and people do less of that when they’re broke. The study also found that working less and spending more quality time with friends and family are a few more hidden health perks of a crummy economy.
