The dollar store may not conjure up images of the highest quality stuff...
...but there are some really good finds in there. Real Simple Magazine has a list of worthwhile buys for a buck:
• Cleaning supplies: The name brand stuff costs a fortune and the supplies you’ll find for a dollar will do just as good of a job. Don’t forget the rubber gloves, sponges and brushes.
• Greeting cards: Why pay several dollars for that dumb card that’s not quite right. Most dollar stores have a good selection of cards that are 2 for a buck!
• Gift wrap: It’s a third of the price you’ll pay anywhere else. Stock up on tissue paper and ribbon too. Why pay more for something that will just be torn and tossed away?
• Party supplies: Balloons, streamers, plastic and paper goods are a fraction of what they charge at party supply stores or the supermarket.
Items to skip for a buck: Vitamins, batteries, toys, lighters and electrical stuff. They’re not only inferior, they could be dangerous.
