Business cards can be a valuable tool – even if you’re unemployed...
Entrepreneurial Advisor, Stever Robbins, has some good advice for your business or personal cards. He says less is more; keep it simple - YOU need to me more memorable than your card. Both business and personal cards should have these basic elements: Your name, company, title, phone number, email, website and tagline.
• Commit to ONE phone number and email. Having multiples clutters the card and creates some confusion regarding which to use.
• Do not include the words “phone,” “email” or “website” next to the information. We can figure that out.
• Your tagline should be a short, memorable slogan describing what you do.
• Addresses are obsolete on cards now – unless you rely on walk-in or drive-by business.
• Do not use glossy or laminated cards. You want card stock paper that is easy to write on. The back of your card should be blank so you or the recipient can make a note on there.
It’s a good idea to jot something down on your card when you hand it out. Our eyes are naturally drawn to something handwritten. Make it count because it will stand out.
