It’s been a harsh winter. Spring repairs you might have to deal with...

It’s been an especially cold and harsh winter for most of the country.

That means a lot of us will be dealing with winter damage repairs this spring. Here’s what you’ll need to inspect on your property:

• Roof and shingles: Ice dams result from snow melting and refreezing on the roof edges above the gutters. That can leave you with leaks and lead to major damage. Double check those areas.

• Grey circles in the grass: This is snow mold and occurs when leaves or debris were trapped there all winter. You might need to rake that up and add some grass seed when the time comes.

• Sad plants: Salt and deicers can be deadly to trees and plantings. Be sure to rinse those off and drench the surrounding soil.

• Cracks in the driveway and walks: These potholes will only get worse if water got underneath and they’re not easy to fix. You might need professional excavation and repair come spring.
