If you love salmon – set them free. Why wild is better than farmed fish...

If you eat salmon on a regular basis – you’re better off with the wild variety.

The largest study to date has found that farmed salmon is more likely to contain contaminants such as mercury, pesticides and PCBs. They tested both wild and farmed salmon from all over the world. Wild salmon may cost a little more but it’s worth it – especially if you eat salmon more than once a month.

Wild Alaskan, sockeye and red are good varieties to look for. They are firmer, less fatty and taste slightly gamier than farmed salmon.
