Chicken soup is good when you’re sick – and so are these foods...

What you eat when you’re sick really can make a difference.

The Reader’s Digest book “Foods that Harm, Foods that Heal” has to go-to menu that can help get you back on your feet and feeling better:

  • ·       Chicken soup: It helps relieve congestion and reduce inflammation in the lungs.
  • ·       Yogurt: It’s rich in zinc and supports the immune system.
  • ·       Citrus and Berries: Foods rich in vitamin C have a slight antihistaminic effect.
  • ·       Spices: Garlic, turmeric, hot peppers, and other strong flavorings can help break up nasal and sinus congestion.
  • ·       Red Meat and Oysters: They’re rich in protein – and you’ll need an extra dose.
