If you didn’t get the flu this season – you’re not out of the woods yet. When will it end?

This year’s flu season has been a nasty one and it’s not over yet.

According to the CDC, flu activity most commonly peaks in the U.S. in January or February. However, seasonal flu activity can begin as early as October and continue to occur as late as May.

If you haven’t been vaccinated, it’s not too late. Even if you have been vaccinated, you’re still at risk. This year’s vaccine has only been about 60% effective and has really taken aim at a younger age group than usual, age 25 to 64.

Regardless of whether you’ve been vaccinated, if you think you’re coming down with the flu, see a doctor immediately. Taking prescription antiviral medications early can help protect you against serious complications.
