The next time your waiter asks how your meal is – tell the truth. How lying will cost you...

Do you lie when your waiter or waitress asks how everything is?

A lot of people do and they end up paying for it. People who lie often go to great lengths to convince others of their honesty, whether they realize it or not. If you report that your meal is great when it’s just so-so, you’ll probably tip generously. After all, you said your meal was great and you don’t want to look like a liar or a cheapskate.

Researchers put the theory to the test and found that the majority of patrons would rather say everything was fine and tip accordingly than to complain, siting it was more trouble to speak up and deal with potential waiting or arguing. On the flip side, those who did voice their displeasure felt justified leaving a smaller tip if the problem was not resolved.
