If you got a really good deal on that designer bag or wallet – make sure it’s not a fake...

Knockoff designer bags and wallets are getting harder to spot these days...

Some of them look almost identical to the real thing. Here are some ways to tell it’s a fake:

• Smell it. High end designer bags and wallets are almost always made from leather. Plastic and vinyl products won’t have that smell.

• Look inside. Premium bags are often lined with very soft calves skin or high quality silky-smoothe fabric.

• Check the stitching. Designer bags and wallets are usually hand stitched and slightly diagonal. Machine stitching will look more uniform and may have flaws. 

• Check the hardware. If it’s lightweight or has a plastic feel – it’s probably a fake.

• You can almost always feel the difference between the real deal and a fake. If it’s stiff, rigid or waxy, enjoy your knockoff.
