When is the last time you measured your waist? What your number should be...

Have you got a tape measure handy? Let’s measure your waist and see if you’re healthy...

To do it correctly, you’ll want to wrap the tape measure around your natural waist, which is just above the navel. Make sure it’s snug and then check the number. Here’s what you’re hoping for: Generally speaking…

• If you’re a woman, it should measure 35 inches or less.

• If you’re a man with a 40-plus waist, you’re at risk.

While you’re at it, measure around your buttocks and hips. If that number is lower than your waist number – you NEED to lose weight. According to the National Institutes of Health, people who are carrying excess weight around their midsection are more prone to heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and certain types of cancer.
