Add some cocoa to your shopping list. How and why to use it...

How about a nice hot cup of cocoa?

There’s more evidence that cocoa is REALLY good for us. It’s now being linked to improved blood vessel health and can even help to prevent stroke, heart attack and lower cholesterol. In order to get a healthy dose of cocoa’s compounds, you’ll need to opt for the real deal, not the cheap commercial stuff. Look for organic, unsweetened cocoa powder.

If you don’t feel like making hot cocoa from scratch, consider adding a spoonful to your morning coffee for a delicious dose of antioxidants and fiber. Think out-of-the-mug too, cocoa is quite versatile. Sprinkle some into your cereal, yogurt, smoothie or oatmeal or mix some into your next batch of pancakes or cookies. Cocoa can also add rich flavor and texture to chili, soups and stews.
