Even Christmas is going green. Lets see how many rules we're breaking...

Did you save your Christmas wrapping from last year? That’s the environmentally friendly thing to do...

The eco-elves want us all to have a green Christmas. Here are their demands:

• Opt for recycled wrapping paper. Newspaper can be festive. Or how about we just skip the wrapping all-together?

• Let’s hope your twinkly lights are LED, they use a fraction of the energy - especially if you don’t turn them on.

• Scale back the elaborate outdoor displays and ask your neighbors to do the same.

• Give your cookies away on a real plate. The same rule should apply for your holiday party. Use real plates and cutlery, not disposable. Finger foods are even friendlier. Or you could just skip the food.

• When the party’s over, be sure to sift through your garbage for any bottles and cans that can be recycled.  Keep your eye out for any food scraps for your compost pile.

• Give and request charitable donations in lieu of gifts. Your kids will LOVE that.

• If you MUST give a gift, show you really care by giving local, organic, nutritious food. Don’t forget to take your reusable bag while shopping.
