You should really consider eating some grapefruit today...


If you eat grapefruit on a regular basis – you’re less likely to have a stroke...  

That’s what new research on citrus and stroke is suggesting. The protection is in the particular type of flavonoid that citrus has – and grapefruit has the most at 47 milligrams in just one half. A whole orange has about 42 and a tangerine about 18 milligrams of flavanones.

Dr. Kathryn M. Rexrode, author of the new study, says the best way to get that citrus stroke protection is by sticking to whole fruit instead of juices, smoothies or supplements. Most of the flavanones are in the inner membranes and pith or white part of the fruit.
