Sunscreen labels will look a little different this season. What they’re changing...

If you’re skeptical about that sunscreen – some new labeling might help to reassure you this season...

New FDA guidelines are keeping products containing SPF honest. Broad spectrum and water-resistance claims will be more specific. And we won’t be seeing any “sweatproof” or “waterproof” on the label. Instead, all sunscreens will be labeled “reapply at least every two hours.”

If you’re looking for sunBLOCK – don’t bother. That claim overstates effectiveness and the FDA says it has to go. The highest SPF you’ll see will probably be 50+. There isn’t enough clinical data to prove anything higher than that provides more protection.
