Is your toaster plugged in? Bad habits that put us at risk...

Most of us have some bad habits we might not even be aware of.

Reader’s Digest has a list of seemingly harmless habits that could be putting us at real risk:

• Falling asleep with the TV on: It stimulates your brain while you’re sleeping, which can trigger sleep disorders or even depression.

• Sharing your partner’s razor: Skin and hair-growth patterns of men’s faces and women’s legs are quite different. Sharing a razor makes both of you more prone to cuts, irritation and infection.

• Leaving the toaster on: 11 percent of toaster fires happen when they’re NOT in use. Also, get in the good habit of cleaning out the fire-starting crumbs.

• Drinking from sports water bottles: Any bottle that you press shut with your thumb or finger puts you at risk of drinking some nasty germs.

• Sharing ice cream with the dog: It’s not true that a dog’s mouth is cleaner than yours. Dogs can carry salmonella bacteria which can cause severe food poisoning symptoms in humans. Sharing food or letting your dog lick your mouth is a bad idea.
